The cooperative’s new facility planning and development remains underway. The timeline for the construction will be fast paced with the facility ready for move-in by mid-2015.
Once the facility is built, all employees will move into the facility together and will occupy the same building for the first time in the cooperative’s history. TCEC’s headquarters, warehouse and numerous other buildings are currently separate facilities which reduces productivity.
The new facility will provide enough space to accommodate the cooperative’s current needs and provide room for expansion should the need arise in the future.
Today, the cooperative’s facilities are spread throughout Hooker, as marked in green on the above map. Going from place to place to conduct business is inefficient. Current facilities are also out of compliance with regulatory policies, such as the American with Disabilities Act and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
The new facility will provide many benefits to employees and will enhance the quality of service the cooperative offers to its members. One way it will do this is by providing a conditioned warehouse for loading and unloading materials needed for restoration of service in outage situations. Currently, all line trucks are parked in the open.
As progress continues on the new facility in the coming months, local contractors will have the opportunity to bid. Local vendors interested in contributing to the construction of the cooperative’s new facility may review the contractor specifications and find out how to apply at www.tcec.coop when the information is available. Paric Corporation, the project management firm for the facility, will consider the applications and will be in contact with contractors selected for the job.
