Record attendance by members at TCEC Annual Meeting

The 2017 TCEC Annual Meeting on September 21 was attended by more than 1,200 people with over 800 memberships registered. Members were greeted by TCEC employees at registration. Member Solutions Vice President Chris Purdy began the meeting with a welcome followed by an invocation by CEO Zac Perkins. Boy Scout Troops 142 and 163 presented the flag colors and pledge of allegiance. Hunny’s catered the member appreciation meal.

Ronny White, TCEC board president, called the meeting to order. Board Secretary Larry Dunn reported there was a quorum for business to be conducted. Jim Fletcher, TCEC general counsel, explained the purpose of the annual meeting and the proposed bylaw changes around joint membership. The bylaw changes were approved by a vote of the attending members.

CEO Zac Perkins asked for questions and comments from members after giving an update on TCEC and its recovery from the recent storms. No new business was conducted. The business meeting was adjourned by Ronny White.

Door prizes were drawn. The grand prize winners were member Sam Karber from the Balko area of a $500 Visa Gift Card and member Shirley Ladehoff of Guymon of a Community Solar panel subscription.

Annual meeting exemplifies three of Seven Cooperative Principles: First Cooperative Principle, “Voluntary and Open Membership,” Second Cooperative Principle, “Democratic Member Control,” and the Fifth Cooperative Principle, “Education, Training and Information.” The next annual meeting is September 20, 2018.

Members are invited to join TCEC’s leadership team for Town Halls in October. Members who choose to attend these free meetings will have an opportunity to learn about challenges facing the cooperative and its future. They will also be able to talk to senior leaders about what’s top of mind for them regarding their energy needs. The dates for the meetings are: Beaver, Oct. 23; Boise City, Oct. 24; Elkhart, Oct. 26; and Guymon, Oct. 30. Meeting details are posted online at and on the cooperative’s Facebook page.
